Sure Start Maternity Grant is an equivalent of the Polish new-born allowance. This is a one-time allowance of £500 to cover the costs associated with childbirth.  Sure Start Maternity Grant is only awarded to Your first child.

You must apply for this allowance within 11 weeks before the planned delivery or up to 3 months after. 

 

To qualify for maternity grant You must be a beneficiary of one of these aids:

• Income Support

• Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance

• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

• Pension Credit

• Child Tax Credit

• Universal Credit
